AN INTRODUCTION TO MY WORK
I have drawn since I could hold a crayon. I love to draw. It was not until I returned to Germany in 1976 that I was overcome with the desire to paint. How could I resist, when everywhere I looked were subjects begging to be painted?
Perhaps because I spent the first twelve years of my professional life as an illustrator, my paintings always have a story to tell. There is something I want to share with the viewer: the rich colors of autumn vineyards, the textures of ivy on an ancient wall, the majesty of a cathedral, the warmth of old friends meeting, the love in the face of a mother bathing her child, the grace of a cat.

The Pfalz, called the Palatinate in English, is a beautiful region in southwestern Germany. It has become my second home and continues to fascinate and inspire me. My recent paintings have also been influenced by the colors and cultures experienced during travels throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
